Consent & Communication for BDSM

How to live out your kinks without crashing boundaries - or the mood

BDSM can feel like driving in fog: you're behind the wheel, but you can't see the road. The person next to you can see everything, but can't steer themselves ... and in the worst case can only end it all with a safeword. In this workshop we learn to understand this situation better, how to reach your destination as safely and smoothly as possible, and how you can also let yourself be guided as a Dom. This workshop is about how you communicate consciously and clearly, defuse misunderstandings, and shape sessions so that in the end everyone goes home feeling good.

Workshop content

We take a look at what consent really means beyond "F-R-I-E-S" buzzwords - including gray areas, CNC, and the question of who actually needs to consent when a scene takes place. You'll learn why classic tools like safewords, checklists, and traffic light codes often fall short, and how to complement them with ongoing communication, clear language, and a better understanding of psychological bias. Using real (anonymized) awareness cases and typical misunderstandings, we break down where communication breaks down, and you'll get concrete strategies - both as a Dom and as a Sub - to recognize boundaries, put mistakes into perspective, and use aftercare in a way that creates growth instead of trauma. In the end, you won't have a "perfect script", but a realistic, conscious framework that lets you shape your kink in a safer, more honest, and therefore more intense way.

- What consent really means, and why F-R-I-E-S is only the beginning

- Typical tools and their pitfalls - plus alternative approaches to complement them
Miscommunication and where it can arise

- How we fool ourselves - psychological bias and its influence

- Lifelong learning and improving - and how we overcome our blind spots

- Real (anonymized) awareness cases and how they arise

- Concrete tips for Doms & Subs - and why we make mistakes anyway

- Space for your experiences, questions, and exchange (discussion round)

Target audiences

This workshop is for Doms who take responsibility seriously without losing the fun factor, for Subs who want to better sense, name, and assert their needs, for Switches (and everyone else) who enjoy reflecting on and understanding both perspectives, and of course for everyone in the kink and BDSM world for whom consent is more than just a "standard negotiation list".

Prerequisites

Prior contact with BDSM, Shibari, or kink is helpful but not required. What matters most is a willingness to look at your own role (Dom/Sub/Switch) critically and with care, and an openness to talk about your own insecurities, misunderstandings, and maybe even mess-ups - without drama, but with honesty and a will to grow personally.

NICHT Inhalte

This workshop isn't about techniques, nor about "how to be a good Dom/Sub", and we won't tell you what's right or wrong (at least not as a blanket rule). Instead, we want to encourage you to think for yourself and become aware that there are many aspects to consider. You have the power and the responsibility to shape this in a way that suits you.

Organizational details

This workshop is available both online and in person.
